The Inukshuk
64Why have we Inukshuk to symbolize our business?
If you are Candian, I believe you already know evrything, what I want to say. If not, please read! This article will be about inuksuk.
First - let's explain the chaos in names. So - it's inuksuk, plural inuksuit, in Endlish it's more usual name inukshuk. What is this i n u k s h u k ?
Inukshuk is a small statue, or better a cairn, made of stone, usually in the shape of cross. Originally it was built by the Inuit, Inupiat, Kalaallit, Yupik, and other peoples of the Arctic region of North America, from Alaska to Greenland. You can see it on many places across Canada, both old ones and newly erected ones (by fans, tourist, or just ordinary people). Lately, a picture of Inukshuk was chosen as the logo for Vancouver 2010 winter olympic games.
And what an inukshuk does have in common with our Toronto MLS business? An "inukshuk", is an Inuit word that literally translated means "stone man that points the way." Trully, these cairns were erected usually to show the way for travellers, they marked the land or were used as a food cache.
We believe it perfectly symbolizes home and especially our team's motto:"Guiding you home". That's why you can find an an inukshuk symbol on our website!
